Have you ever wondered about the relationship that binds you to the objects that surround you? Cristina Ramos does. Instead of limiting herself to simply asking questions, she instead turns her process of reflection into authentic art.
Cristina Ramos is a creative director and set designer in her own atelier. In addition, she is the editor-in-chief of DREAM Magazine, a visual platform that explores the connection between objects and people. Her resume includes prestigious brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Chloé or Nike, as well as photographers such as Mario Sorrenti or Patrick Demarchelier. Her work has been showcased in international publications such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and GQ.
This creative Catalan is the final guest to take part in the MAM By project, reinterpreting the essence of MAM through her unique vision of the world. Faithful to the philosophy of DREAM Magazine, Cristina has created a poetic series of photographs in which she juxtaposes our watches with human nudes.
"The ideal union between MAM and DREAM was to give significance to the idea of the watch as an object. Clothing seemed unnecessary."
"The ideal union between MAM and DREAM, for me, was to give significance to the idea of the watch as an object. Clothing seemed unnecessary to me because it took us away from this concept of creating still lifes using the naked body through crops and postures. [I wanted to]!make an analogy with the forms that are usually attributed to sculpture, such as those by Barbara Hepworth or Henry Moore,” says the creative director.
For Cristina, the film set is a key element that should be given special attention, since "it frames the product, and therefore must be very thoughtful, so as not to hide the produce. It is important to create harmony, a unified concept related to the original idea. You need to understand the idea and make it grow, bring creativity and enhance this original concept through shapes, materials, textures, colors, objects. "
The creative is passionate about her work and especially enjoys "the act, during the shoot, of composition." Cristina acts from an organic place, saying "I never think of the compositions before doing them. I go to the shooting and I start to play with the objects as they emerge. It’s what I like to do most in life. "
The director of Dream magazine sees MAM as "a good simplification exercise". For her, "MAM presents their watches in a simple and refined form, with materials close to the human", another element that serves to connect people and objects.
